Characterization of Stemphylium spp. associated with tomato foliar diseases in Algeria

چکیده
Leaf blight and spot caused by Stemphylium spp. Alternaria are the most common destructive tomato diseases in north-western Algeria. During 2018 growing seasons, more than 30% of samples collected from plants grown greenhouses or open fields were infected with Stemphylium. Initial symptoms small, multiple, irregular to oval, yellow leaf spots, which enlarged brown lesions later. In these lesions, mostly co-occurred Twenty nine isolates characterized based on morphological features, multi-locus phylogenies using ITS, gpd, cmdA genomic loci. Five species (S. lycopersici, S. gracilariae, eturmiunum, vesicarium, lycii) associated spot, lycii is a new report for tomato. Pathogenicity tests healthy 2-months-old seedlings reproduced similar those observed crops. The tested fungus differed pathogenicity. Two lycopersici aggressive other species, causing major plants. five identified reported first time as pathogens Algeria, Algerian mycoflora.

Population structure of Stemphylium lycopersici associated with leaf spot of tomato in a single field
Stemphylium lycopersici is an important pathogen causing leaf spot of tomatoes worldwide. Although much information is available about the pathogen, little is known about dynamics of S. lycopersici in tomato fields. Seventy-nine symptomatic leaf samples were collected from two tomato cultivars grown in a farm (Miral and Inbred line). Fungal species associated with the disease were isolated on p...
متن کاملDistribution and Genetic Variability of Fusarium oxysporum Associated with Tomato Diseases in Algeria and a Biocontrol Strategy with Indigenous Trichoderma spp.
Fifty fungal isolates were sampled from diseased tomato plants as result of a survey conducted in seven tomato crop areas in Algeria from 2012 to 2015. Morphological criteria and PCR-based identification, using the primers PF02 and PF03, assigned 29 out of 50 isolates to Fusarium oxysporum (Fo). The banding patterns amplified for genes SIX1, SIX3 and SIX4 served to identify races 2 and 3 of Fo ...
متن کاملCharacterization of L-asparagine transport systems in Stemphylium botryosum.
L-Asparagine uptake by Stemphylium botryosum is mediated by two distinct energy- and temperature-dependent transport systems. One permease is relatively specific for L-asparagine and L-glutamine and is present in nutrient-sufficient mycelium. The specific permease shows an optimum pH at 5.2, saturation kinetics (Km = 4.4 x 10(-4) M, Vmax = 1.1 mumol/g per min), competitive gradient of L-asparag...
متن کاملCharacterization of an endophytic bacterial community associated with Eucalyptus spp.
Endophytic bacteria were isolated from stems of Eucalyptus spp (Eucalyptus citriodora, E. grandis, E. urophylla, E. camaldulensis, E. torelliana, E. pellita, and a hybrid of E. grandis and E. urophylla) cultivated at two sites; they were characterized by RAPD and amplified rDNA restriction analysis (ARDRA). Endophytic bacteria were more frequently isolated from E. grandis and E. pellita. The 76...
متن کاملDetection of relapsing fever Borrelia spp., Bartonella spp. and Anaplasmataceae bacteria in argasid ticks in Algeria
BACKGROUND Argasid ticks (soft ticks) are blood-feeding arthropods that can parasitize rodents, birds, humans, livestock and companion animals. Ticks of the Ornithodoros genus are known to be vectors of relapsing fever borreliosis in humans. In Algeria, little is known about relapsing fever borreliosis and other bacterial pathogens transmitted by argasid ticks. METHODOLOGY/PRINCIPAL FINDINGS ...
